Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
Last time, I dug a small dirt hole and learned that a dark hole is not really a shelter.
This time, I want something better.
Tools, stone, and if I am lucky, light.

The suited man is on a tree again.
The pose looks calm.
The situation is not calm at all (laughs)
The Night Forest Is Still Scary
I look around from the tree.

Dark.
I can almost see, but not quite.
That "almost" is what makes the forest so frightening.
Still, I need wood.
I try to take a log from the tree.

Good.
A log.
Even at night, one log feels like a little hope.
But waiting on a tree is not the same as being safe.

Another zombie.
Apparently, being above the ground does not make me invincible.
Minecraft is not that kind.
Morning, Starting Over
By now, I know that moving at night is dangerous.
So I wait for morning and begin again.

Morning.
The light alone makes me breathe a little easier.
This time, I gather wood more carefully.

Three logs.
That is a big success for me.
With logs, I can make planks.
With planks, I can make a crafting table and sticks.

Now life feels just a little more human.
Wood.
Planks.
Sticks.
A crafting table.
The basics are finally lining up.
Placing the Crafting Table and Making Tools
I place the crafting table on the tree trunk.

Just having a crafting table changes how the world looks.
From here, I can make a wooden pickaxe and a wooden shovel.

Tools.
This time, I do not want to stop at only making them.
I want to actually use them.
The wooden pickaxe is especially important.
If I can reach stone, the world may open up a little.
Digging Dirt Properly This Time
Last time, I dug a dirt hole.
But I sealed the entrance and assumed that was enough.
It was not.
This time, I want to dig more carefully.

I begin from the slope.
Dirt first.
Then deeper.
The wooden shovel helps.
It feels good to have the right tool, even if it is only wood.

The hole is beginning to look like a hole.
Not a home yet.
But more than a panic trench.
As I dig farther in, I see something.

Wait.
Is that coal?
Coal, inside my little hole.
This is exactly what I needed.
My First Torches
With coal and sticks, I can make torches.

Torches.
Finally, torches.
After so many dark nights, this feels enormous.
I place one inside the shelter.

Bright.
Truly bright.
It is only one torch, but the feeling changes completely.
The dirt hole is no longer just a dark hole.
It is beginning to feel like a small base.
I Will Not Get Greedy
The shelter is brighter now.

Oh.
This is much better.
The wall is dirt.
The space is narrow.
But there is light.
And after all the deaths so far, light is more valuable than style.
I decide not to get greedy.

I close the entrance.
A dirt side-hole.
A crafting table outside.
Wooden tools.
Coal.
And torches.
For the first time in Season 3, I have something that feels like a base.
Next time, I want to leave this little shelter and see what is beyond the forest.
But for now, I am glad.
The darkness has finally been pushed back a little.
That is all for this time.
Greetings.
