Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.

Last time, I found a screaming goat in the snowy mountains and displayed all eight goat horn variants at the mountaintop air cargo station.

During that journey, I noticed something resembling a cobblestone path emerging from a forest slope.

It seemed to be part of a trail ruin buried underground.

This time, I am riding Shiro in search of trail ruins and using a brush to excavate suspicious gravel.

Riding Shiro in search of trail ruins

After preparing a brush and the rest of my equipment, I left the castle town aboard Shiro, my happy ghast.

While looking down at the ground from above the forest, I spotted cobblestone and step-like remains on a slope.

According to the official Minecraft article about trail ruins, these structures are buried among dirt, coarse dirt, gravel, and suspicious gravel.

What I could see here was only part of the remains emerging from the forest floor.

Around it were cobblestone sections buried beneath grass and dirt, with gravel scattered nearby.

Rather than uncovering the entire ruin, I checked the sections that were visible from the surface a little at a time.

Excavating suspicious gravel with a brush

In another snowy taiga, I found a mottled gravel block exposed at ground level.

Its pattern was different from ordinary gravel. It was suspicious gravel.

The official Java Edition 1.20 release notes explain that suspicious gravel can be found in places including trail ruins, and brushing it extracts an item buried inside.

I stood in front of it and readied the brush, careful not to break the block.

As I slowly brushed the surface, an item began to appear from inside.

I brushed four suspicious gravel blocks during this search and found these four items:

  • Flint
  • A green candle
  • A red stained glass pane
  • An emerald

I did not reroll any of the four attempts. I recorded the first item from each block as the result of this excavation.

The green candle can also be seen in my inventory immediately after I found it.

These four items are the results I actually obtained with the brush in this world.

Building an archaeology display in the castle town

After returning to the castle town, I checked the items I had brought back together with the items prepared for the display.

The picture shows an emerald, a purple candle, flint, and a stick.

Of those four, the emerald and flint were found during this excavation.

The purple candle and stick were prepared for the display.

I arranged item frames in one corner of the mountaintop air cargo station and built a small archaeology display themed around the trail ruins.

Combining excavation finds with the prepared display items gave even this small wall the feeling of a record from the journey.

The mountaintop air cargo station now holds records of both the snowy mountain horns and the trail ruins.

That is all for this time.
Greetings.
