I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Soon after returning to Minecraft, I remembered an unfinished goal from more than a year earlier.
I wanted netherite gear.
I had collected enough ancient debris to upgrade only my boots before leaving the world. This time, I intended to finish the entire set and my main tools.
Searching the Nether for ancient debris
Last time, I explored a vast new cave deep beneath the old world.
The thought of netherite returned to me during that expedition. Once I remembered it, I wanted to act immediately.
The previous search had included a lava dive and a complete loss of my items. The Nether remained frightening, but ancient debris would not come to me on its own.
### Collecting ancient debris with TNT and beds
I wanted to upgrade my helmet, chestplate, leggings, sword, axe, two pickaxes, and shovel. With my boots already finished, that meant eight more netherite ingots and 32 ancient debris.
Thirty-two. This would take some work.
In this old Bedrock-era expedition, I searched around the level I had used before and placed TNT through the tunnels.
Some deposits appeared together, and the search went much more efficiently than my first attempt.
Finding a group of them felt like discovering buried treasure.
When the TNT ran out, I brought beds. Their explosions cleared a wider area, but they were also powerful enough to kill me if I became careless.
The bed-mining method kept the ancient debris search moving.
When one area produced nothing, moving to a different place helped. The debris often seemed to appear in small groups.
At last, I reached the target: 32 ancient debris.
On the way home, I unexpectedly found a Nether fortress. I remembered struggling to find one before, and now it appeared when I was not even searching. I would return another time.
### Completing the full netherite equipment set
Back at the village, it was time to craft the upgrades.
First, I smelted the ancient debris into netherite scrap.
Four netherite scraps and four gold ingots made one netherite ingot.
Then I used the smithing table to upgrade each piece of equipment.
Full netherite gear at last!
The dark armor looked wonderful. It made me think of the Black Saints from Saint Seiya, which may reveal my generation.
Surrounded by purple-tinted armor and tools, I was delighted. Future adventures would feel much more comfortable with this equipment.
