I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
This time, I am finally attempting to take on the ocean monument.
I prepare Water Breathing and Night Vision potions, hoping to find a way inside that huge structure.
However, guardians begin attacking as soon as I reach the outer wall.
Can this well-prepared gentleman make it into the monument safely?
Preparing potions and equipment for the monument
I begin in the castle town by preparing for the expedition.
Last time, the guardians took a worrying amount of health even while I was only viewing the structure from the surface.
This trip will take me underwater, so I am being even more careful.
I pack netherite equipment, a Totem of Undying, food, golden apples, and milk.
I also bring the Ocean Explorer Map along with Water Breathing and Night Vision potions.
An underwater adventure is very different from an ordinary journey.
I check everything several times to make sure I have not forgotten anything. (laughs)
I put on my armor and arrange the tools I will need within easy reach.
The expedition preparations are complete.
I climb onto Shiro’s back and depart from the castle town!
With the Ocean Explorer Map as my guide, I head toward the sea we visited last time.
Diving down to the ocean monument’s outer wall
When I reach the right part of the sea, I drink the Water Breathing and Night Vision potions and dive in.
It is reassuring to see my surroundings more clearly and continue without worrying about air.
I swim through the seagrass toward the ocean monument.
Underwater, I open the map to check my position and the direction of the monument.
A large prismarine structure comes into view through the blue water.
At last, I reach the ocean monument’s outer wall!
Up close, the wall towers over me and feels even more imposing than it did from the air.
I would like to search for a way inside, but the guardians nearby are already targeting me.
Each attack takes away more health until only a few hearts remain. This is dangerous! (sweats)
Unable to enter, I retreat for now
I make several attempts, but I cannot move beyond the outer wall this time.
Even with the potions, searching for an entrance while under guardian attack is not easy.
Once my health has fallen substantially, I decide not to push my luck and retreat.
I do not enter the monument, so fighting an elder guardian and searching for sponges will have to wait for another episode.
I thought that equipment and potions would be enough, but diving here teaches me that I also need a better way to defend myself and approach the structure.
Still, I have now reached the ocean monument’s outer wall.
It is a frustrating retreat, but returning safely and planning another strategy is better than losing everything here.
My ocean monument adventure is only beginning.
