I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
Last time, we built an air cargo station with a landing pad and an overlook on a mountaintop.
Now that the new station is ready, I want to fly somewhere far away from it.
This time, Shiro the Happy Ghast and I are heading for a snowy mountain about 700 blocks away.
Our goal is to find the goats and powder snow that live in this wintry place.
Leaving the Mountaintop Air Cargo Station for the Snowy Mountain
First, I prepared for the expedition at the air cargo station.
Leather boots, a spyglass, buckets, food, and torches.
I packed the things that might be useful on the snowy mountain into the chest boat.
Once the leather boots and buckets were ready, I climbed onto Shiro and we set off.
As we traveled over the forest, a white mountain eventually appeared ahead of us.
There it is!
The trees and the ground were covered in snow. It looked completely different from the land around our castle town.
Finding a new place from the sky is still exciting.
Finding a Goat on the Snowy Mountain
Shiro and I descended onto the mountain.
White slopes of snow and patches of blue ice surrounded us.
I had to watch the ground carefully because it was difficult to tell where I could walk safely.
When I looked up the mountain, I noticed a white animal standing on an icy slope.
It was a goat!
The animal looked perfectly at home high on the snowy slope.
I did not get too close. Instead, I watched it quietly from below for a while.
On my first visit to a snowy mountain, I had met one of the animals that belongs in this landscape.
Comparing Powder Snow With and Without Leather Boots
Next, I searched for powder snow.
It looked much like ordinary snow, but my body began to sink when I stepped into it.
I am sinking…!
My view turned white, and an icy pattern appeared around the edge of the screen.
According to Minecraft’s official information, entities sink into powder snow and begin to freeze if they remain inside it for too long.
The same official information explains that leather boots let the wearer stand and walk on powder snow without sinking.
So I put on the leather boots I had brought and stood on the same patch again.
This time, I did not sink.
During this comparison, I also did not see the freezing effect that had appeared without the boots.
However, that was only what I observed at this spot during this visit. I will not claim that leather boots alone completely prevent freezing in every situation, so I still want to watch my footing in snowy places.
Just as the official information says, I was able to collect powder snow with a bucket.
Now I can bring a small piece of the snowy mountain back to the castle town.
It is a slightly frightening, but interesting, souvenir that behaves very differently from ordinary snow.
Bringing Snow and Powder Snow Back to the Castle Town
After meeting the goat and collecting powder snow, Shiro and I headed home.
The keep, greenhouse, and rows of houses came into view.
After traveling so far, seeing the castle town again felt especially reassuring.
I placed the snow and powder snow we brought home in one corner of the mountaintop air cargo station.
The gray stone and lanterns of the station now have a small patch of white scenery beside them.
At the end, I stood with Shiro, the chest boat, and the snow we had carried home.
This time, Shiro and I made our first expedition to a snowy mountain about 700 blocks away.
We found a wild goat, experienced how powder snow made me sink, and compared it with the same spot while wearing leather boots.
Our air cargo station has given us another place to reach from the castle town.
