I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
As I watched the goats we had met in the mountains, one thing began to catch my attention.
Their horns.
This time, I am traveling across several snowy mountains to collect the four horn variants that can come from regular goats.
Searching the snowy mountains for goats
I began by preparing at the mountaintop air cargo station.
Then I headed into the mountains and walked along the slopes in search of goats.
Between the snow and the spruce trees, I eventually spotted a group of them on a white hillside.
Before I could collect any horns, I first had to find the goats themselves.
Seen up close, one goat had two horns clearly growing from its head.
With the goats found, it was time to begin the horn collection.
Dodging a goat’s charge so it drops a horn
According to official Minecraft information, a goat drops a horn when it rams certain hard blocks that naturally occur where goats spawn, including logs, stone, packed ice, and iron ore.
For this attempt, I prepared an icy charging lane in the mountains so I could follow the process clearly.
I stood in front of the goat with the ice wall behind me.
After a while, the goat lowered its head and ran toward me.
I moved sideways just before it reached me.
The goat continued toward the ice at the end of the lane.
These pictures show the general charging and dodging process I used while collecting the horns.
They do not show the exact moment when the final Sing horn dropped, but every horn in this episode was obtained through this process.
Repeated variants and more snowy mountains
Official Minecraft information says there are eight goat horn variants in total.
My goal this time was to find the four available from regular goats: Ponder, Feel, Seek, and Sing.
However, the same variants kept appearing, and Sing remained missing.
One mountain was not enough, so I continued to another snowy area and searched for more goats.
In this attempt, 13 goats passed without a Sing horn appearing.
I had collected several horns, but the last space in the set remained empty.
Sing appears on the 14th goat, completing the set
Then came the 14th goat.
When I checked the horn it had dropped after charging, it was finally the Sing variant I had been looking for.
Ponder, Feel, Seek, and Sing were now all together.
The horns share the same inventory icon, so I checked their in-game names as I collected them one by one.
After 13 goats without the last variant, finding it was a relief.
Back in the castle town, I ended the day holding the newly found Sing horn.
This time, I traveled across snowy mountains and collected the four horn variants available from regular goats by using their charging behavior.
I had expected the set to come together quickly, but the last variant did not appear until the 14th goat.
The horn hunt that began in the snowy mountains may not be over yet.
