Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.

Last time, I built a chicken coop where hoppers automatically collect the eggs laid by the chickens.

Now that the eggs are arriving, I am going to make a cake.
I will gather ingredients from the cow farm, the fields, and the storehouse, then open a small cake shop in the castle town.

The building site is an open patch facing the town square.
The shop should be easy to see both from the front and from across the square.

Gathering ingredients from around the castle town

First, I visit the chicken coop from the previous episode.
I take one egg from the collection chest for today’s cake.

Next comes the automatic sugar cane farm.
I take two pieces of sugar cane from its collection chest and craft them by hand into two portions of sugar.

Minecraft’s official Taking Inventory: Sugar article explains that sugar can be crafted from sugar cane.
The official Taking Inventory: Milk Bucket article explains that using an empty bucket on a cow fills it with milk.

For this cake, I also bring three pieces of wheat from the storehouse and one milk bucket that was already in storage.
I craft the two additional empty buckets from iron ingots and collect milk from two cows, giving me three milk buckets in total.

Now I have one egg, two portions of sugar, three pieces of wheat, and three milk buckets.

Building a small shop and crafting the cake

With the ingredients ready, I build a shop with a seven-by-seven outer footprint on the open patch by the square.
I lay a stone-brick floor, raise cobblestone walls, and add glass windows and an acacia door.

Inside, I place a deepslate-tile counter and a crafting table.
There is no sign yet, but once a cake is on display, everyone should know what kind of shop this is (laughs).

Minecraft’s official Taking Inventory: Egg article also lists cake as one of the uses for eggs.
In the Java 1.21.11 recipe data, the top row contains three milk buckets, the middle row is sugar, egg, and sugar, and the bottom row contains three pieces of wheat.

I arrange those ingredients on the crafting table inside the shop.
A cake appears in the result slot!

I take only one cake and confirm that the three empty buckets return after crafting.
Ingredients from the farm, the fields, and the storehouse have now come together in one cake.

Placing the cake and enjoying one slice

I place the finished cake on the shop counter just once.
Its white frosting and red decorations stand out nicely against the cobblestone interior.

According to the Java 1.21.11 game data, breaking a placed cake does not return it as an item.
I will not move it, so let us enjoy it right here.

The shop’s first customer is this old man himself.
After I eat just one slice, the edge of the cake is missing, and in this observation my hunger level rises from 10 to 12.

Outside, the little cake shop now stands beside the road along the town square.
It still has no sign, so I would like to gather the materials and add one someday.

Ingredients from places built across the town come together, and a cake is now waiting in the castle town.

To finish, I give a deep bow in front of the completed shop!

What kind of fun should we add to this town next time?

That is all for this time.
Greetings.
