I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
Last time, I found Armadillos in a savanna and crafted Wolf Armor from their scutes.
After seeing those charming Armadillos, I begin to want a place where they can live in the castle town.
My armored wolf could use a calm little kennel too.
A savanna-style ranch beside the greenhouse
I choose the empty plot just south of the pale oak greenhouse.
It is still only grass, but it should be easy to visit while walking through town.
I lay sand and coarse dirt in patches, then add dry trees and grass.
Little by little, a dry savanna scene appears in the green castle town.
I surround the space with acacia fencing and make a gate.
The sign simply says “Armadillo Ranch.” Nobody will get lost (laughs).
Inside, I add an acacia tree, a shallow water pool, and shade.
It is a small enclosure, but it is beginning to feel like a savanna.
Welcoming two Armadillos home
With the scenery ready, I welcome two Armadillos into the ranch.
Seeing them stroll beside the water inside the castle town feels wonderfully strange.
When I run closer, one rolls into a ball while the other stays standing.
The difference is easy to see; perhaps a running uncle is a little frightening after all (laughs).
This time I approach quietly and brush an Armadillo.
While it stays calm, I give its scutes some gentle care.
The scutes from brushing and those I find at the ranch add up to thirteen.
With the Armadillos living here, perhaps I can find them little by little in the future too.
A kennel for the armored wolf
In one corner of the ranch, I build a small acacia kennel for the armored wolf.
The wolf sitting at the entrance already looks as if it knows this is its place.
Beside it, I make a care station for the armor and tools.
Wolf Armor, a brush, and Armadillo scutes sit on the wall, with a barrel, crafting table, and water-filled cauldron below.
From above, a small sandy acacia area sits next to the greenhouse.
Armadillos walk there, and the armored wolf has its own kennel beside them.
This is a new corner of the castle town where Armadillos and a wolf can live together.
I would like to watch their little ranch slowly grow.
