I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
I am still working to make life in the base village more comfortable. This time, I will build an automatic harvester for pumpkins and melons.
Both crops are useful when trading with farmer villagers, so collecting them without constant attention sounds ideal.
Automation is wonderful.
Making pumpkins and melons easier to collect
Last time, I built a water-flush crop farm that harvests rows of crops with one button.
That farm made both harvesting and trading easier. Now I wanted to continue improving the village with another machine.
This one would quietly gather pumpkins and melons while I spent time elsewhere in the village.
The machine uses pistons to push the grown pumpkins and melons, breaking them into items for collection.
The first level was soon almost complete. To improve the output, I decided to make the structure two levels tall.
After finishing the second level, I added a roof.
And with that, the automatic pumpkin and melon harvester was finished. All I had to do now was leave it alone and wait for the crops to grow.
When a melon appeared…
The piston broke it, and the drops went into storage. Simply spending time in the village would now allow pumpkins and melons to accumulate steadily.
This base village was still young, but it was becoming more convenient one project at a time.
What I wanted most was another adventure. Before that, though, I needed better equipment.
