I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
After a terrible battle in the End, I finally defeated the Wither and secured a Nether Star.
There was only one thing I wanted to make with it: a beacon.
I planned to install it beneath the center of the village and enjoy its effects around my base.
After all my years in Minecraft, this would be my first beacon.
Making a beacon from the Nether Star and installing it in the village
I had defeated a Wither once before, but the Nether Star somehow disappeared.
After that miserable reward for such a difficult fight, I avoided the Wither for years.
This victory finally ended that old disappointment.
### Installing the beacon at the deepest level
The beacon effect could extend upward from its location, so I decided to place it deep below the village.
I dug until I reached bedrock.
I made two shafts: one with a water elevator and another with water for landing.
The beacon itself required one Nether Star, five glass, and three obsidian.
For a level-four beacon, I also needed 164 mineral blocks.
I used all the iron and gold blocks I had.
No light-blocking blocks could remain above the beacon, so I cleared a vertical path toward the surface.
The lowest layer of the pyramid would be nine by nine, so the room needed plenty of space.
For level four, I stacked layers of nine by nine, seven by seven, five by five, and three by three.
The room made it difficult to see the whole pyramid, but it was finally complete.
When I placed the beacon, a beam of light shot upward.
My long-awaited first beacon looked magnificent.
Colored glass changed the color of the beam.
I had imagined the light reaching all the way into the sky, but it appeared to stop partway underground even though no blocks remained above it.
The effect still reached the surface, so only the visible beam seemed limited.
At level four, the effect covered a radius of fifty blocks.
Along with regeneration, I could choose one primary effect.
Because I expected to do plenty of mining and building, I chose Haste.
I was disappointed that the beam would not serve as a towering village landmark, but the beacon still made life at the base much more convenient.
