I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
Last time, in Episode 18, the adventure that began with a shipwreck treasure map led all the way to a chest buried under the sand.
The Heart of the Sea.
That name alone already sounds important.
But in the world of Minecraft, finding treasure does not mean the adventure is over.
This time, while walking a little farther toward the eastern seaside, I found an old tunnel leading underground.
Rails.
Wooden supports.
And cobwebs.
Could this be… a mineshaft?
So this time, I explore an underground mineshaft.
After the treasure map, the man in the suit is now entering an old tunnel.
The adventure side of OjiCra is getting rather serious.
An Old Mineshaft Underground
As I move underground, rails stretch out in front of me.
This does not feel like an ordinary cave.
It feels like a place where someone has been before.
There are wooden supports, rails on the ground, and cobwebs here and there.
It is dark.
It is narrow.
And yet, I really want to see what is ahead.
I know that turning back would be safer.
I do know that.
But when rails continue into the dark, I want to follow them.
My curiosity is dangerous.
After a short walk, the path splits.
Should I go straight?
Should I turn to the side?
Or should I go home?
Going home was a real option.
It was.
But I do not go home yet.
Since I have come this far, I want to look just a little farther.
In Minecraft, "just a little farther" is usually where trouble begins.
Wooden supports line the passage, and cobwebs block parts of the way.
The old, abandoned feeling really makes it look like a mineshaft.
It is interesting to look at.
But I am not relaxed.
If anything, I am tense the whole time, wondering what might come out from the dark.
This is not a place for a suit.
But I am always in a suit.
A Minecart Chest and a Cave Spider Spawner
As I move deeper into the mineshaft, I find a minecart with a chest.
Of course I open it.
Of course.
Places this scary usually have something like this waiting inside.
Inside, I can see an enchanted book, bread, iron, gold, diamonds, and more.
Very helpful.
Very, very helpful.
But places with helpful loot are often dangerous places too.
This mineshaft has treasure.
And it also has danger.
There it is.
A cave spider spawner.
Cobwebs everywhere, with the spawner in the middle.
Even at a glance, this looks dangerous.
I have heard that cave spiders can poison you.
Just hearing that is enough to make me nervous.
If I get too close, something very bad will probably happen.
So I try to be careful.
…And just as I think that, there it is.
A cave spider.
It is looking at me with red eyes.
It is small, but it is much too close.
It feels far more threatening than I expected.
The cobwebs in the mineshaft are not just decoration.
This really is a cave spider’s home.
Then everything turns into a fight.
The cave spiders come right up to the screen.
My health is also getting low.
I swing my sword as hard as I can.
This is frightening.
Very frightening.
A mineshaft is exciting, yes.
But it can also become dangerous very quickly.
The man in the suit came in because he wanted treasure.
Now he is being reminded of the reality of this place.
I suddenly want to ask myself, "Do I still know the way back?"
Farther in, there is a passage like a wooden bridge.
Below it, the space drops away, and more tunnels continue beyond the walls.
The mineshaft is larger than I expected.
If I follow the rails, I can keep going.
But where they lead is not always safe.
It feels like an adventure.
I like that feeling.
My heart does not.
Mining Diamond Deep in the Mineshaft
After passing the wooden bridge, I move even deeper.
Then, near lava, I see blue ore.
Diamond ore.
I have seen diamonds inside chests before.
But seeing diamond ore in front of me feels different.
This is diamond in the ground.
Something I can mine myself.
That makes me happy.
However, there is lava right beside it.
Happiness and fear are standing in the same picture.
I mine it carefully with an iron pickaxe.
If I fall the wrong way, this will become a very different story.
I do not want that.
So I watch my footing and mine slowly.
The sound of the pickaxe hitting the ore feels very Minecraft.
Moments like this make the underground trip feel real.
I got it.
A diamond.
Finding diamonds in a chest is wonderful, of course.
But finding the ore underground and mining it with my own pickaxe feels different.
This one came from a mineshaft, after cave spiders, cobwebs, and lava.
I want to remember this diamond properly.
Still, I am underground.
And the mineshaft seems to continue even farther.
Next time, should I think about how to use this diamond?
Or should I keep exploring a little more?
I should be careful not to get too greedy.
