The Nether is frightening every time I visit.
At the black gate, I pass through the purple swirl and begin looking for a Nether fossil.
After walking for a while, I find white bone blocks gathered near lava.
This must be a Nether fossil.
Looking into one corner, I find a small block with a sad-looking face.
There it is: a Dried Ghast.
I carefully dig it out and collect it safely.
Once I have found what I came for, I do not wish to remain in the Nether for long.
Back through the black gate, the familiar buildings of the castle town are a welcome sight.
Watching it change in a castle-town fountain
To welcome the Dried Ghast, I make a small fountain in town.
Stone brick and polished andesite surround a shallow pool, with lanterns at the four corners.
I put the Dried Ghast into the water in the middle.
At first, it keeps its sad expression.
When I move away for nine minutes and nineteen seconds in this world, the change does not progress.
So I stay by the fountain and watch more carefully.
Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.6 official information says a Dried Ghast becomes a Ghastling after being waterlogged for about twenty minutes.
As I watch by the fountain, its expression begins to change little by little.
Green particles float gently around it, and its face seems more lively than before.
With its appearance changing step by step in the same place, I cannot take my eyes off the fountain.
A Ghastling is born
Sixteen minutes and six seconds after I begin watching beside the fountain, the Dried Ghast disappears and a small white figure floats above the water.

Its big mouth and short little legs bob softly above the fountain.
It is surprising that the sad block I found in the Nether becomes such a lovely creature.
When I walk while holding a snowball, the Ghastling follows behind me.
It floats close by like a new companion in the castle town.
The Dried Ghast I bring home from a Nether fossil slowly changes in water and becomes a Ghastling.
The official guideline is about twenty minutes; this time, it takes sixteen minutes and six seconds while I watch beside the fountain.
I am glad I stay close enough to see the moment it is born.
