I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
This time, I finally set out to search for a stronghold with Eyes of Ender in hand.
I will cross the inlet and follow only the direction each eye shows me.
Preparing the Eyes of Ender and Leaving the Castle Town
Morning arrives in the botanical garden, and today is a day for a long search.
Before I head far away, I take one more look at the castle town.
At the warehouse, though, water has spread across the passage.
There is one more job to finish before leaving, but a small detour like this feels very much like life in the castle town.
Once everything is ready, I head to the brewing room and trade with the cleric.
I need Ender Pearls to make a clue for finding the stronghold.
After several trades, the cleric has become an expert.
There are more trades to choose from now, and the preparations for the stronghold search are nearly complete.
The Ender Pearls from the cleric add up to ten in my inventory. I combine them with Blaze Powder and make ten Eyes of Ender.
When those little green eyes line up, the journey suddenly feels very real.
With an Eye of Ender in hand, I leave the castle town on a rainy road.
Where will it take me? For now, only the eye knows.
The first throw flies east-southeast into the rainy sky.
I pick up the fallen eye and start walking in the direction it showed me.
Crossing the Inlet and Going from the Mesa to the Desert
An inlet waits at the end of the road.
By the time I reach the water, the castle town already feels far behind me.
Getting up onto the opposite shore leaves me struggling in the water and badly drained of health.
Still, when I turn around, the inlet is glowing in the evening light. The eye is pointing farther on.
I throw the Eye of Ender a second time in the plains.
Seeing it point in the same direction again makes unknown land feel a little less uncertain.
A deep forest lies beyond the savanna.
There is no proper road, but with a marker to follow, I can keep taking one step at a time.
In the forest, I throw the eye a third time, and this one breaks along the way.
I worry about how many remain, but remember the direction and keep moving.
Across the river, a Mesa of red land appears! It is the first Mesa to appear in the Season 3 story so far.
It is an unexpected sight on the way to the stronghold. For now I follow the eye, but I hope to explore this place properly someday.
Past the Mesa, a desert finally comes into view.
Even this far out, the eye keeps pointing on, beyond the sea of sand.
The final Eye of Ender points down in the desert.
I make up my mind and begin digging a staircase from the surface into the ground.
Finding the Portal Room in the Underground Stronghold
At the end of the stairs, mossy stone-brick steps appear.
This is surely the entrance to the stronghold I have been looking for!
As I move through the corridor, the portal room comes into view ahead.
After such a long journey, reaching this room is enough to make me cry out.
There is a silverfish spawner in the room, with the portal frame close beside it.
I place a torch, but the portal room is still a dangerous place where even approaching the frame keeps me tense. What happens next will have to wait until next time.
Following the Eyes of Ender takes me across the inlet, forest, Mesa, and desert, and finally to an underground stronghold.
Now that the suited man is standing before the portal room, what should he prepare, and where will he step next?
