Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.

Last time, I reached the outer wall of an ocean monument, only to retreat when the guardians stopped me.

This time, the story returns to the castle town, where I set to work on a conduit.
To collect the nautilus shells I am missing, I decide to build a fishing pond.
I get as far as finishing the conduit itself, but activating it will have to wait.

Bringing out the sea treasures and counting the missing shells

A barrel containing a Heart of the Sea, nautilus shells, and other stored sea treasures

I open the barrel to find the Heart of the Sea and the other materials I put away.
After bringing these treasures home, I would rather use them than leave them sitting in storage.

According to Minecraft’s official introduction to the conduit, the recipe calls for one Heart of the Sea and eight nautilus shells.
The heart is ready for its moment. But do I have enough shells?

Checking the chest and carried supplies before beginning to fish

This is the materials check before the fishing begins.
I go through the chest and my carried supplies, gathering what I can use.

Counting the stored supplies, I have five nautilus shells available this time.
A conduit needs eight, so I am three short.
It sounds like only a little more. Somehow, that little more still feels rather far away…

Minecraft’s official nautilus shell article also describes obtaining shells by fishing.
In that case, let us make a fishing spot in town and try for the missing ones.

Fishing for nautilus shells in the castle town

This photograph shows the pond after this round of work is finished.
The water stretches along the wall, with lanterns lining its edge.
The castle town now has another place to cast a line.

The pond I build this time is seven by seven blocks and two blocks deep.
Along the way, a pillar left in the water gets in the way, so I remove it and try fishing again.
There is more to this than making it look tidy, apparently. (laughs)

A note on the preparations: I use production assistance to prepare the fishing spot and some of the materials and tools.
The shells missing for this attempt are caught by fishing, and I make the conduit at a crafting table.

Holding an enchanted fishing rod while facing the castle town pond

Here I am with the rod in hand, facing the pond.
This is where I cast my line in search of those missing shells.

Alongside fish, the catch includes a bow, a name tag, and an enchanted book.
Shells are what I am after, but these unexpected treasures are welcome too.

I keep fishing and add three nautilus shells!
Together with the original five, I finally have all eight.

There is no photograph of the moment a shell is caught, but this fishing session fills the gap.
At last, I can turn that Heart of the Sea into something useful.

A finished conduit—but the activation frame comes later

The item in my hand is the finished conduit!
At the crafting table, I surround one Heart of the Sea with eight nautilus shells and craft one conduit.
Those separate sea treasures have finally come together.

I pause beside the fishing pond with the finished item in hand.
Starting three shells short and getting this far feels rather satisfying.

However, crafting it does not mean it is ready to use.
The official introduction linked earlier explains that a separate prismarine frame is needed to activate it.

I do not have enough frame materials this time, so I have neither placed nor activated the conduit.
Trying out its usefulness underwater will have to wait until the preparations are complete.

For now, the conduit itself is finished, and the castle town keeps its new fishing pond.
Next, I need to think about how to collect the materials for the activation frame.
There is one more job to do before returning to the ocean adventure.

That is all for this time.
Greetings.
