I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.
This time, I will not simply put that loot away in a chest.
First I dry the wet sponges, then I build a place in town where the gold and prismarine can be displayed alongside them.
Finding a place for the ocean monument loot
When I open my inventory, there are the 8 gold blocks and 14 wet sponges.
Seeing everything back in town makes me happy all over again that I managed to bring it home from the bottom of the sea.
The trophy hall will go in this empty space between two castle-town buildings.
It is a small plot, but there should be enough room for a building I can walk into and view the loot.
I arrive at the site with the gold blocks and sponges.
The gold stands out even in the rain. It is practically asking to be displayed (laughs)
Drying all 14 wet sponges in a furnace
First, I put the wet sponges into a furnace.
A wet sponge can be turned back into a dry sponge this way.
After a little wait, the first dry sponge appears in the output slot!
That yellow block was full of water, but now it is ready to be used again.
I keep the furnace running until all 14 sponges I brought home are dry.
Seeing that whole stack makes them feel even more like proper ocean-monument treasure.
Testing a sponge in a small water tank
To try out one of the newly dried sponges, I prepare a small 3×3 tank.
I fill its 9 spaces with water and get ready to place the sponge inside.
I place the sponge and… the water is gone!
All 9 water blocks in this little test disappear at once, leaving the bottom clearly visible.
The sponge I recover from the tank has become a wet sponge again.
Dry it, let it take in water, and watch it become wet once more. It is a wonderfully satisfying item to test for myself.
Building the trophy hall on a prismarine floor
With the test complete, I move on to the trophy hall.
I use 8 pieces of ocean-monument prismarine in the floor, arranging them like a path toward the center.
I make the building 5×6, raise the walls three blocks high, and leave a 2×2 entrance at the front.
With a roof and lighting added, the small structure begins to feel like a proper hall I can walk around inside.
Completing the gold and sponge display!
For the main display, I arrange all 8 gold blocks in a ring and place one wet sponge at the center.
I add 6 dry sponges too, creating a wall that shows the ocean-monument loot at a glance!
From outside, the little roofed building fits neatly into the space between its neighbors.
Gold shines through the entrance, giving passersby a glimpse of the display within.

The gold blocks and sponge display can be seen through the entrance behind me.
The treasure I found in the ocean monument has become a new building in the castle town.
Next, I will look over my supplies and think about what the town might need next.
