I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Last time, I discovered a Nether fortress during my first trip into this world’s Nether.
I returned with proper equipment, expecting a difficult raid, but the fortress went more smoothly than I had imagined. That felt a little too easy, so I also decided to explore the bastion remnant I had spotted on the way.
Two fortresses in one trip. Let us begin.
Raiding both a Nether fortress and a bastion remnant
My first Nether trip began on the edge of a lava lake in a basalt delta.
Near the end of that expedition, I finally found a Nether fortress.
After returning to the village and preparing my gear, I set out for it again. On the way, I also found a bastion remnant. I had never entered one before, so I left it for later and continued toward the fortress.
### Entering the Nether fortress and finding Nether wart
This was my first fortress visit since the Nether update, and my first in a long time. I was rather nervous.
There were blazes everywhere, and magma cubes joined them. This place was frightening.
I found a blaze spawner and collected several blaze rods.
Wither skeletons appeared here and there as well. I kept my distance and used a bow, and one of them immediately dropped a skull. That was very lucky.
Then I found the main reason I had come: Nether wart, which I needed for brewing potions.
There seemed to be an unusual number of wither skeletons. Perhaps it was simply my luck.
The fortress chests were not especially exciting. I collected a few building blocks and headed back, but the whole raid had ended much faster than expected.
### Rare loot and danger inside the bastion remnant
That was when I remembered the bastion remnant. I prepared again and went back.
Piglins lived inside, so I wore gold and approached the chests carefully.
The moment I broke through the wall, a piglin brute attacked. It carried a golden axe and remained hostile despite my gold armor, so fighting from a distance felt much safer. I am quite sure a direct fight would have ended badly.
A treasure chest sat openly in the room. I did not want every nearby piglin attacking as soon as I opened it, so I cleared the area first.
This chest was much better. It held crying obsidian, a Soul Speed enchanted book, and Soul Speed boots.
There was ancient debris too!
I continued downward from the top of the structure.
Behind a block patterned like a pig’s nose, I found gold blocks. Taking gold makes piglins angry, so even this treasure required caution.
The bastion was much taller than I expected. Piglin noises echoed through it, keeping me tense all the way to the bottom.
At the lowest level, I found another section nearby.
There was a hole in the floor with lava waiting below. Naturally…
I fell into it.
Without a Fire Resistance potion, I would certainly have died.
The chamber was not designed for an easy escape. What a terrifying place.
I had heard that some bastions contained magma cube spawners, but I did not find one here. There were plenty of hoglins instead. Even so, I returned with new blocks and valuable loot, satisfied with this double fortress expedition.
