Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.

Last time, I placed the Dried Ghast I found in the Nether into the castle town fountain and watched a tiny Ghastling emerge.

It looked very sweet as it floated gently above the water.

This time, I will give the Ghastling a name and help it grow into an adult Happy Ghast.

Then I will make a harness, climb onto its back, and take to the sky above the castle town!

At last, this suited man is going to fly.

Feeding Snowballs to Grow a Happy Ghast

I came to the Ghast fountain in the castle town early in the morning.

First, I used a name tag to give this little one a name.

Its white, fluffy appearance made the choice easy: Shiro, which means white.

Seeing the name above it suddenly made Shiro feel like a proper member of the town.

I brought some snowballs to help Shiro grow up sooner.

I fed Shiro 13 snowballs this time.

According to the official information for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.6, a Ghastling takes about 20 minutes to grow into an adult, and feeding it snowballs helps it grow faster.

I stayed beside the fountain and watched. About nine minutes after giving Shiro a name…

Shiro grew up!

The tiny Ghastling had become a Happy Ghast much larger than the suited man standing below.

The face was still just as charming, but now I had to look a long way up to see it.

Crafting a White Harness for Shiro

To ride on an adult Happy Ghast, I needed a harness.

At the crafting table, I combined three pieces of leather, two blocks of glass, and one piece of white wool.

The wool color determines the harness color, with 16 colors available.

I chose white to match Shiro’s name.

Then I put the new harness on…

Straps and golden fittings now stood out against Shiro’s white body. Everything was ready for a ride.

I could not climb aboard before the harness was fitted, but now Shiro’s back was waiting for me.

Learning to Ride and Taking Our First Flight

When I looked up at Shiro and climbed aboard, my viewpoint suddenly rose high above the ground.

Jump made us rise, and Shiro slowly moved in the direction I was looking.

We were flying!

The roads and buildings I usually walk past became smaller and smaller below us.

Seeing the suited man perched on the back of that enormous Ghast was a rather strange sight too.

As we moved forward, the sea appeared beyond the rooftops of the castle town.

Looking across the castle town rooftops and the sea from Shiro's back

The familiar town looked like an entirely different place from the air.

I turned around to see the whole town from above.

Looking down over the greenhouse, farm, and castle town houses from the sky

The Pale Oak greenhouse, the water-harvesting farm, and the houses of the castle town all came into view at once.

I had built and improved these places little by little. From the sky, I could finally see how large the town had become.

To descend, I looked downward and continued moving forward.

Once we were close to the fountain, I used sneak to dismount.

Landing near the fountain while riding on Shiro's back

Instead of immediately falling to the ground, I found myself standing safely on Shiro’s back after dismounting.

That was very helpful at this height.

Finally, I took a commemorative picture with Shiro and the new white harness in front of the fountain.

The little Ghastling had eaten snowballs and grown into a large Happy Ghast.

With a harness fitted, I could ride on Shiro’s back and fly together over the castle town.

Seeing from the sky the town I had always explored on foot made this a very enjoyable first flight.

Next time, I would like to ride Shiro a little farther and see what other landscapes are waiting for us.

That is all for this time.
Greetings.
