Greetings.
I am a man in a suit who has fallen into the world of Minecraft.

Today, I am heading out to look for axolotls.
I fly northwest with my Elytra and land in a dark forest with a giant red mushroom.
Standing beneath the trees, that mushroom looks rather large!
Last time, I built Enmado, an Enderman XP farm in the End, and mended my Elytra.
This time, let’s have a look at the water underground.
First, a little look back at the preparations before leaving town.
From a Forest Valley into a Lush Cave

At the crafting table in town, I make shears, paper, and firework rockets.
I’d like to bring some plants home too, so the shears are coming along.
With buckets ready as well, it is time to leave for the forest.
Now, back to where I land among the trees.

There is a dark opening in the valley slope, with moss spilling out of it.
The green ground seems to continue into the cave.
Well, I’d rather like to take a look down there…

I drink a Night Vision potion and look around: a lush cave spreads out before me.
Glow berry vines hang from above, with moss and clay pools underfoot.
What a green little world to find beneath the forest.
Minecraft’s official article describes axolotls living near underwater clay in lush caves and being carried in buckets.
Let’s look around these pools.

There it is!
Part of it is hidden by the clay, but I can see a cyan body and pink gills.
I scoop it up with a water bucket to take it back to town.
There are plenty of skeletons and zombies in this cave, though, and I have to fight several times.
It isn’t just a quiet visit to admire a cute creature…
After waiting a while, I find a pink axolotl too.
Into another water bucket it goes, giving me two companions to bring home.
I also gather big dripleaf, azaleas, flowering azaleas, moss blocks, and clay.
Bringing Two Axolotls Home and Building an Aquarium
Out of the cave and back to the castle town.
It is dusk by the time I return.

For the aquarium, I smelt sand dug from the coast into glass.
There are two buckets of axolotl in my inventory.
Let’s make somewhere for our cave companions to swim.

The spot is a grassy patch south of the row houses.
I build walls of stone bricks and mossy stone bricks, with glass on the south side for a view inside.
This tank will be three blocks deep with water, so I start filling it.

With the tank filled, I aim the pink axolotl’s bucket into it from the wall above.
After this, I release both the pink and cyan axolotls.
From little buckets into a much larger stretch of water.
I lay moss blocks in front and plant azaleas, flowering azaleas, and big dripleaf on either side.
A little of the cave’s greenery comes back to town with us.
Two Little Faces through the Glass on a Sunny Day
On a later day, after their release, I return to the aquarium in sunny weather.

The pink one’s face is right behind the glass.
Little eyes and gills spread out to the sides.
The cyan one is farther back on the right; I’d love a closer look.

Here is the cyan one.
Its face was tucked behind clay in the cave, but now I can admire it through the glass.
Those pale pink gills are rather lovely too.

From farther away, I can see the aquarium, its planting, and the row houses behind it.
Moss breaks up the stone walls, with flowering greenery on either side.
Our usual grassy patch has another place worth stopping to admire.

One last picture beside the aquarium.
The two axolotls I found under the forest are now swimming in the castle town.
With cave plants around them too, this is a lovely little homecoming.
Minecraft’s official axolotl introduction says that their breeding food is tropical fish carried in buckets.
Next, I’d like to prepare buckets of tropical fish and try breeding these two.
That is all for this time.
Greetings.
